Meet The Coaches

Coach Dan is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and grew up playing sports year round. He enjoyed both football and basketball during his high school years. Wanting to continue that competitiveness as a young man, Dan switched to the sport of volleyball and competed regionally around the Midwest both indoors and beach. After a decade of men’s volleyball, which included multiple Adult National Tournaments, Dan moved into youth sports coaching.

After moving to Arizona just a short time ago, Dan decided to get back into coaching club
volleyball. Dan looks forward to the opportunity to grow the game and help develop the next generation of players. Dan brings a competitive but fun nature and wants to help each athlete become their best on and off the court.

Dan has been married to his wife Tracy since 1992. They have 2 sons and 3 grand kids.

Nathan has been around the sport of volleyball most of his life. He grew up in Williamsburg, VA, and participated in beach volleyball tournaments as often as possible. He captained his volleyball team in high school and they won the state championship his senior year.

Nathan has been a part of coaching, teaching, or mentoring youth all of his adult life through church, school, sports teams, or community organizations. Nathan is excited to be a part of Maricopa Elite because of its unique culture to help our girls understand the game of volleyball, develop individual and team skills, and do it in a way that we're all excited to come back and do it again the next practice.

Nathan and his wife Jenny have been married since 2003. They and their four kids have lived in Maricopa since 2010.

Brenda was raised on a dairy farm in the small town of Emmett, Idaho. As the fifth of six kids, she worked together on the family farm and has lots of fond memories spent on horseback, irrigating, driving tractors, and singing in the truck (this was the day of cassette tapes and radio). She was lucky enough to be introduced to volleyball in sixth grade and played it for ten years straight.

She worked hard and earned a full-ride scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Utah. (GO UTES!) Her volleyball claims to fame are: Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year, alternate on the Jr. National Volleyball team, blocked Olympian Logan Tom in a club tournament, MVP of Women’s US Open Tournament, and member of the first team to make it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen at the U. Volleyball took her all over the continental US, Hawaii twice, Italy, and Puerto Rico. She met Scott, her husband, playing pick-up volleyball at the U. They married in 2004.  She owes a lot to volleyball; it has shaped her life!  🙂

She has continued her passion for volleyball by playing in the Coed league in Mesa, coaching her daughters in recreational sports and club teams, as well as being JV Men’s Volleyball coach at Heritage Academy Maricopa. (Go Heroes!)

Brenda and her husband Scott have 3 children and have lived in Maricopa since 2006.
